Overview

Genuine Audiophile Phono Performance

The PPA7 is a dedicated phono preamplifier designed to extract greater clarity, lower noise and more accurate tonal balance from vinyl playback. By giving the cartridge signal a purpose-built amplification and equalization stage, it offers a clear upgrade over many built-in phono inputs.

Moving Magnet and Moving Coil Compatibility

With support for MM and MC cartridges, the PPA7 is suitable for a wide range of turntables and upgrade paths. It allows customers to begin with an accessible cartridge and continue using the same phono stage as their analog system evolves.

Cartridge Loading and Capacitance Adjustment

Selectable MM capacitance options of 100pF/220pF, together with MC 100R/330R loading, allow more precise cartridge matching and system tuning.

Dedicated Analog Output Stage

A purpose-designed analog output stage ensures the amplified and equalized vinyl signal is delivered cleanly to the rest of the hi-fi system. This typifies Audiolab’s core values of neutrality, low distortion and accurate musical reproduction.

Regulated Symmetrical Power Architecture

Using a single 12V DC input, the PPA7 generates internal +8.5V and -8.5V regulated rails through separate positive buck and negative inverter regulation. This single-source symmetrical supply supports stable analog operation, low-noise phono amplification and clean signal handling — essential qualities when amplifying the delicate output of MM and MC cartridges.

Headphone-Oriented Listening

The integrated headphone amplifier makes the PPA7 ideal for private listening, desktop systems and late-night vinyl sessions. It gives users a direct, high-quality way to enjoy records without relying on a full loudspeaker system.

Phono Preamplifier Bluetooth Transmission with aptX HD

Bluetooth transmission allows vinyl playback through compatible wireless headphones, adding modern convenience without abandoning the analog source. aptX HD support provides a stronger quality story for lifestyle headphone users while keeping wired listening as the purist reference.

USB Recording for Vinyl Archiving

The PPA7 enables vinyl archiving via USB with selectable recording resolutions from 44.1kHz to 192kHz and 16-bit or 24-bit operation. Supporting both PC and Mac via the established IAG USB 2.0 driver, it allows users to preserve rare, collectible or personally important records in digital form.

Adjustable Record Gain

A record gain range of -12dB to +3dB gives users practical control over USB recording levels, helping optimize transfers and reduce the risk of overload when digitizing hotter pressings, higher-output cartridges or dynamically demanding records.

Remote Control Operation

Remote operation makes the PPA7 more approachable and easier to use than many traditional phono stages. It supports Audiolab’s user-experience-led design approach and makes the product feel like a true system component rather than a hidden accessory.

Premium Compact Build

Designed to sit alongside the D7 and match Audiolab’s 6000/7000 series aesthetic, the PPA7 combines compact dimensions with aluminum construction, tactile controls and understated visual refinement.
