Overview

The Aerial Acoustics Model 5T represents a complete reevaluation of the possibilities of the small speaker. Although replacing the popular and respected 5B, the 5T is a completely new design. It offers significant and measureable improvements in system sensitivity, dynamics, treble delicacy, midrange transparency, and bass extension. Designed specifically for placement 2” to 2’ from a wall, it has already proven to surprise listeners whether in a bookshelf, on a tabletop, or mounted on a stand.

The Model 5T reflects the larger and more expensive Model 6T and Model 7T designs. It shares the same curved cabinet construction, high gloss finish, the same tweeter, similar woofer refinement, and tight-tolerance crossover componentry and wiring.

The cabinet’s extremely rigid and inert curved shape is created by bonding multiple layers of wood together under high pressure for 48 hours in a 20 ton press. The cabinet’s thick walls are further cross-braced. The front baffle is attached to the cabinet face with a hand-chosen environmentally conscious damping glue. The cabinet’s internal volume is damped with New Zealand long-fiber wool specifically chosen for its sonic character. All these steps insure a cabinet capable of reproducing soft or loud music passages without perceivable sonic colorations. Finally, the cabinet is finished in Nero Metallic Black, High Gloss Rosenut, or an all-new premium High Gloss Ebony.

The Aerial 5T features a 1” woven ring-dome dual-magnet tweeter from the 7T, along with a new 6.7” long-stroke papyrus-blend driver custom-made for the 5T. With the optimized high-order multi-element crossover, the result a smooth frequency response from 48 Hz to 23 kHz.

Fantastic Bookshelf Speaker

Owned these for about a year. Very well built speaker with wonderful tonality and clarity. Really sound good at low to moderate volume (which is where I do most of my listening) . Outstanding value given sonics and very high quality of construction and components. IMHO you have to step up to the $8 -10k plus tier of bookshelf speakers to get discernibly better sound.

Great Value/Wonderful Speakers

I just got these from AudioAdvice in ebony a couple weeks ago, and I must say they are the most enjoyable speakers I've ever owned. They have a warm, life like sound. The highs are crystal clear with no harsh, digital edge.

Vocals have wonderful, natural presence and the bass is tuneful and tight. But, what I'm most impressed with is how well they image.
I am so glad I got these. I can listen all day without any fatigue from harshness. I got the 7cc center channel as well and immediately noticed the smoothness of dialogue that was missing with my previous Bowers and Wilkins HTMD4 center which often had a slight but noticeable treble edge.

My living room is open concept to the kitchen and dining area with hardwood floors and a lot of windows and and clap echo. These are perfect speakers for that type of setting because they tame the resulting harshness a lot. They have plenty of scale for their size. I have them anchored with a Martin Logan sub and driven by a McIntosh integrated.

I encourage you to audition these....you won't regret it.

High end sound in a small package

I had listened to a number of speakers before buying the 5Ts. What i liked most about these is how they disappear in the room. They breathe life into the vocals with the smoothest top end i had heard in my auditioning of speakers. The only other speaker that came close was the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova 2, but those are much bigger and expensive. The finish is gorgeous and i leave the grills off.

Expensive but incredible

I purchased these from an audio advice store a pond have had them over a year. They are very expensive. However, they are prefect even for large rooms. I have them in bookshelves and actually use them in my main listening room for both music and television sound. The imaging is amazing and the sound is great. I have them on a great and powerful amp. An advantage of these is that you don’t have to have large towers in a nice room and they can handle any power you throw at them.
