Great speaker. Period

Great speakers require great components to really shine. These Silver 100's are no exception. Right out of the box they sounded detailed, clean and tight.

I lived with them a few weeks with a Peachtree Nova 150 integrated. My overall opinion was, too bright. Dropped in a Jolida 30 watt tube integrated. Sounded nice but felt the detail was now lacking somewhat, certainly related to the lower power.

Moved a much more expensive Conrad Johnson Classic 60 amp from another system, and used the Peachtree Nova as a preamp (using the preamp out inputs), and the Silver 100's really shine. Detail I wasn't getting from the other amps, but of course as with most tube components, clean detail without the fatigue or off-putting midrange I was getting from the Peachtree alone.

Overall it's a truly satisfying sound. Still cool to hear previously unheard detail from very familiar recordings. Says a lot about the proper pairing of components with speakers. Whenever I introduce new components to one of my system, I have go-to albums I use for auditions. Donald Fagan's 'Nightfly' is one of them. Extremely well recorded with loads of subtle details throughout. The Silver 100's nailed everything. Mids, highs, even the bass is solid. The present a nice broad soundstage that extends up and out as well.

Clearly these speakers are batting well above their expected average. I happened to get open box versions here for $1100. I'm certain these are the best sounding speakers I've owned in the $1000-$1500 price range.

Highly recommended.
