Overview

Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs, or MoFi, has been around since the 70’s when they invented the concept of procuring master tapes of classic records, cleaning them up, and pressing them on the best vinyl. They introduced a turntable line a few years ago with the help of two great designers, Alan Perkins and Mike Latvis.

The technology and craftsmanship you will find in the MoFi StudioDeck are simply incredible for its price point. Alan Perkins of SOTA designed the platter, plinth, tonearm, and cartridge and, more recently, Spiral Groove frame. The bearing is top-notch with an inverted bearing like you see on much more expensive tables, which supports an almost 4-pound Delrin platter. Most tonearms in the price range are 9”, but the StudioDeck gets a 10” fully adjustable arm, which improves tracking. The StudioTracker moving magnet cartridge comes pre-mounted and, to our ears, sounds fantastic for the money.

All the MoFi turntables are made in small batches right here in the USA by skilled and meticulous craftsmen. We also love that this table has an upgrade path that will allow you to give it the performance level of the more expensive models by adding the Mike Latvis-designed Ultra Low Noise Feet and damping weight.

Studiodeck review

I decide to get back into the vinyl scene after 30 years. I first bought a ProJect Debut Carbon Esprit. This was a fine table but I knew it wasn't equal to the other components that I have. I did a lot of research before deciding on the Studiodeck. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I have cleaned records that I bought in the 70's and now I hear things that I have never noticed before. I recommend this table for anyone that wants to get the most from their vinyl.

Haven't gotten to spend much time with this turntable yet but I was very impressed by the care in packing, the weight of the table. Looking forward to breaking it in more this weekend.

Wow impressive

I am absolutely impressed with my purchase. Following the set up advise from Audio Advise made things alot easier, I had a little trouble with the anti skate weight but got it worked out just needed to be tightened up a bit. Playing Miles Davis's bitches brew from mofi OMR was an experience! My only regret is not having enough money to justify purchasing the higher end model but on my current system I felt the difference would be negligible. But then again the difference from my previous turntable was Miles, previously had the Audio Technica ATLP120usb with the Shure M97xE cartridge.
