The High Notes
Anthem Room Correction

Anthem Room Correction

Your room has a bigger impact on the sound than any component in your system. Anthem's new ARC Genesis is an easy to use room correction system that gives your sound a huge improvement. ARC takes out all the big peaks to let you hear your home theater and music soundtracks the way the engineers intended.
Real Power with Great DAC's

Real Power with Great DAC's

Anthem receivers have a big, full warm sound due to the fact they have massive power amps inside, actually similar to what you might find in some separate amps. They have a drive and control that makes your speakers come to life. Add in the fact they use audiophile level DAC's for all decoding and you have a receiver that sounds just amazing.
Outstanding Flexibility

Outstanding Flexibility

With 4 speaker and ARC presets for various listening situations, 30 virtual inputs, 15 channels of processing on board with power amp matrixing and discrete dual sub outs, the MRX1140 covers a lot of bases. We love the fact you can rearrange 10 of the 11 built in channels and add a big separate amp for the fronts and get 15 plus two sub channels of great object based surround.

The Anthem MRX 1140 is basically an MRX 740 with 4 additional amp channels, an upgraded toroidal power supply for improved performance, and a few more goodies. We won’t repeat all the great stuff we said about the MRX 740 in the notes above. What you get with the 4 additional channels is the ability to install a complete Dolby Atmos system with left, center, right, surrounds, rear-surrounds, top-front Atmos, and top-rear Atmos speakers with all of the needed amps built right into the receiver. We feel it also sounds slightly better from an audio standpoint than the MRX 740 — but the difference is not huge — it’s more about having the extra amp channels on board.

There are two other things that are really cool. First, it has processing for 15 channels inside. This means you can go all the way to a 9.2.6 Dolby Atmos system just by adding a four-channel power amp. Secondly, it has two totally independent subwoofer outs. These are tuned individually using the new version of ARC Genesis to perfectly blend each subwoofer — no matter where it is positioned — with the rest of your speakers. To us, that is a huge deal!

If you are going to take a full Atmos dive and get 11 speakers now or later on, this unit offers amazing sound in one package — saving you the space that will be taken up with an additional amp or amps that you would need to add to the MRX 740 later. However, if you are just starting out with 7 channels, you could go with the MRX 740 and add the additional amps or amps later for the remaining 4 channels, if you think you will stay at 11 speakers. But, if you think you might want those wide fronts or 3 pairs of Atmos, the MRX1140 is the way to go.

If you are going full-blown Dolby Atmos the MRX 1140 is our clear winner under $5,000!

Incredible

I upgraded to the Anthem 1140 based on the Audio Advice videos and advice to me. Boy were they right. If you have always used less expensive receivers from Best Buy and you have the money to do it right, you should look at the Anthem 1140. It sounded great out of the box. Then I followed the Audio Advice set up video step by step to set up my room calibration. Once that was done, the system was just amazing. I could not be happier. One note is that the Audio Advice team advised me to use the beta software which I did. Apparently this software has a host of advantages compared to the regular released software at the time I installed mine.

Wow!

I upgraded from a Denon. Wow what a difference. I followed the Audio Advice tips and tricks they emailed me after the purchased. Those were invaluable. I think they send them to all customers. But I just followed along while watching the Audio Advice setup guide on my phone. By the time I was done calibrating ARC, I was amazed at the difference in my room.

What A Beast!

Upgraded from my Pioneer Elite to this, and I will never go back. If you are serious about your home theater, you owe it to yourself to get an Anthem. Loving my MRX1140 thus far!

Quality AVR!

This is a well built and versatile AVR. Anthem in general has become one of my favorite brands with this new MRX line. The ARC Genesis software really allows you to dial in your speakers to get the best experience out of your system. I was really impressed how much of a difference this calibration made. Great product!
